Welcome back to the blog! Today I have Shelley Munro interviewing her character Julia Maxwell.
Today I’m interviewing Julia Maxwell. You might have met Julia before in The Bottom Line, the story where her friend Maggie hooked up with another of their friends Connor. Past Regrets is Julia’s story, and we’re in for a ride…
SHELLEY: Welcome, Julia. Tell us a little about yourself.
JULIA: Hi. As Shelley mentioned I’m friends with Maggie and Connor. I met them, along with our other two friends Susan and Christina, at Barker & Johnson where I work—used to work—as a secretary.
SHELLEY: Used to work?
JULIA: *Laughs* My mother owns a club on K’ Road called The Last Frontier. It’s in trouble since Mum has health problems and the manager she hired ran off with most of the takings. I’ve decided to take over the management role.
SHELLEY: You have experience in running a club?
JULIA: I used to work at the club and have a good idea of what constitutes a decent place. Of course we desperately need a spruce up. The place is looking a bit tired these days.
SHELLEY: Wait, you used to work there? What did you do?
JULIA: *glares* I was a stripper and earned the money to pay for my education. The minute I finished my secretarial training, I left the club.
SHELLEY: Okaay. Moving on. I’ve heard a rumor that you’re getting a divorce. I didn’t even know you were married.
JULIA: I don’t want to talk about it.
SHELLEY: So the rumors are true.
JULIA: Shelley, do you have experience with a stripper pole. I’m looking for new dancers.
SHELLEY: I’m a writer. I’m too busy dealing with Susan and her farmer. Things will fall apart if I’m not there to control my cast of characters.
JULIA: You should hurry with Susan’s story. I need her back in Auckland since she’s one of my best dancers.
SHELLEY: Duly noted. So who is Ryan?
JULIA: A cheatin’ scumbag liar. I refuse to talk about him.
SHELLEY: But I understand he’s part of the story in Past Regrets.
JULIA: *stands* I’m not going to waste time talking about Ryan. I have better things to do.
SHELLEY: Such as?
JULIA: I’m meeting the girls at the pub for margaritas. *she strides from the room*
SHELLEY: She’s a bit touchy about that Ryan, don’t you think? I think there’s something going on there—some past history about to see the light. I guess I’ll have to wait to learn the truth.
PAST REGRETS, due out 10 September from Samhain Publishing.
CONTEST: Go into a draw to win an Amazon Gift Certificate (3 x winners). Leave a comment or ask Shelley a question to go into the draw to win.
Here’s the blurb for Past Regrets:
Never look back…unless that’s where your heart belongs.
Julia Maxwell was a seize-the-moment party girl until the night she spent with up-and-coming rocker Ryan Callander. From that moment, she was a one-man woman. Pity he hasn’t kept with the program.
Tired of the secrets that have kept her out of the press and Ryan’s fans happy, angry with mounting evidence of infidelity, Julia is older, wiser, and determined to divorce his cheatin’ ass.
Ryan’s long European tour had more than its share of hard knocks—one of which landed on his head when he was mugged. Divorce papers waiting for him at home are a shock that fills in some of the holes in his sketchy memory. But it could be too late to salvage his marriage.
If Ryan thinks flirtatious smiles, seductive touches, and hot-and-heavy kisses are going to smooth things over, Julia’s got a hammer with his name on it. To her surprise, he picks it up, determined to rebuild a bright future for both of them. But the past is lurking with some missing pieces that could bring their hearts crashing down.
Warning: Contains a pissed ex-stripper turned burlesque dancer, a bunch of nosy friends and a smooth-talking rocker with one thing on his mind. Stripper poles and skimpy costumes may be involved.

Loved the interview, Shelley. And I’m intrigued. I like to read books with strip clubs because I used to work in one as a bartender.
Sweet, sexy dreams.
