Shelley Munro Interviews her character Julia Maxwell: Secretary Turned Strip Club Owner

Welcome back to the blog! Today I have Shelley Munro interviewing her character Julia Maxwell.

Here’s Shelley!

Today I’m interviewing Julia Maxwell. You might have met Julia before in The Bottom Line, the story where her friend Maggie hooked up with another of their friends Connor. Past Regrets is Julia’s story, and we’re in for a ride…

SHELLEY: Welcome, Julia. Tell us a little about yourself.

JULIA: Hi. As Shelley mentioned I’m friends with Maggie and Connor. I met them, along with our other two friends Susan and Christina, at Barker & Johnson where I work—used to work—as a secretary.

SHELLEY: Used to work?

JULIA: *Laughs* My mother owns a club on K’ Road called The Last Frontier. It’s in trouble since Mum has health problems and the manager she hired ran off with most of the takings. I’ve decided to take over the management role.

SHELLEY: You have experience in running a club?

JULIA: I used to work at the club and have a good idea of what constitutes a decent place. Of course we desperately need a spruce up. The place is looking a bit tired these days.

SHELLEY: Wait, you used to work there? What did you do?

JULIA: *glares* I was a stripper and earned the money to pay for my education. The minute I finished my secretarial training, I left the club.

SHELLEY: Okaay. Moving on. I’ve heard a rumor that you’re getting a divorce. I didn’t even know you were married.

JULIA: I don’t want to talk about it.

SHELLEY: So the rumors are true.

JULIA: Shelley, do you have experience with a stripper pole. I’m looking for new dancers.

SHELLEY: I’m a writer. I’m too busy dealing with Susan and her farmer. Things will fall apart if I’m not there to control my cast of characters.

JULIA: You should hurry with Susan’s story. I need her back in Auckland since she’s one of my best dancers.

SHELLEY: Duly noted. So who is Ryan?

JULIA: A cheatin’ scumbag liar. I refuse to talk about him.

SHELLEY: But I understand he’s part of the story in Past Regrets.

JULIA:  *stands* I’m not going to waste time talking about Ryan. I have better things to do.

SHELLEY: Such as?

JULIA: I’m meeting the girls at the pub for margaritas. *she strides from the room*

SHELLEY: She’s a bit touchy about that Ryan, don’t you think? I think there’s something going on there—some past history about to see the light. I guess I’ll have to wait to learn the truth.

PAST REGRETS, due out 10 September from Samhain Publishing.

CONTEST: Go into a draw to win an Amazon Gift Certificate (3 x winners). Leave a comment or ask Shelley a question to go into the draw to win.

Here’s the blurb for Past Regrets:

PastRegrets72webNever look back…unless that’s where your heart belongs.

Julia Maxwell was a seize-the-moment party girl until the night she spent with up-and-coming rocker Ryan Callander. From that moment, she was a one-man woman. Pity he hasn’t kept with the program.

Tired of the secrets that have kept her out of the press and Ryan’s fans happy, angry with mounting evidence of infidelity, Julia is older, wiser, and determined to divorce his cheatin’ ass.

Ryan’s long European tour had more than its share of hard knocks—one of which landed on his head when he was mugged. Divorce papers waiting for him at home are a shock that fills in some of the holes in his sketchy memory. But it could be too late to salvage his marriage.

If Ryan thinks flirtatious smiles, seductive touches, and hot-and-heavy kisses are going to smooth things over, Julia’s got a hammer with his name on it. To her surprise, he picks it up, determined to rebuild a bright future for both of them. But the past is lurking with some missing pieces that could bring their hearts crashing down.

Warning: Contains a pissed ex-stripper turned burlesque dancer, a bunch of nosy friends and a smooth-talking rocker with one thing on his mind. Stripper poles and skimpy costumes may be involved.

Author Elodie Parks and her characters pay a visit

Thanks for stopping by the blog. I’ve got a sexy post from Elodie Parks. Her characters can get pretty hot.

Here’s Elodie, Cathy and Owen!

Hi Keira,

It’s great to be here, thank you for inviting me to come along today with my new release erotic romance, ‘The Old Star’.

Just a little about me to let your readers know who I am.

I live in the United Kingdom and I work in an antiques shop as well as writing. I have two dogs that keep me fit with their need for walks. Love the countryside and the coast.

I write romance, contemporary, and erotic with a twist of mystery, suspense, or the paranormal, now and then. I like to make the story unusual in some way, by a quirk in the tale. My books are always steamy.

About the book,

The Old Star, an August 23 release from Hot Ink Press, and author Elodie Parkes

She was looking for new office space…but it found her…what’s hidden in this spooky place?

When Cathy Faraday goes out from her office to buy morning tea, a set of circumstances send her on a different route from the one she would normally take. Waiting on a street unknown to her is a house. Old and left to fade away the house looks shabby against its neighbours. The whole row of houses are now offices and Cathy sees a ‘for let sign’ outside the place. Something draws her to the house. Someone watches from the third floor window.

Cathy applies to rent the building to expand her dating agency business. As she begins to make it ready, the house reveals its secrets.

Erotic romance, with a twist of paranormal, set in contemporary England this story will haunt you.

Graphic sex/love scenes. 18+ only.

I’ve brought along my hero and heroine from the book today so sparks might fly a little

Meet Cathy Faraday and Owen Sheringham

Cathy would you like to tell the readers about how you and Owen met?

Actually no because I think that would be a spoiler, don’t you Owen?

I agree, let’s tell the readers about the first time we made love instead.

Okay…well, I was very attracted to Owen right away. He’s my ideal, and I’d always knew I would need a man who made my heart pound the minute I saw him. It was love at first sight for me and I know what you’re thinking…that doesn’t exist…although I don’t think Owen fell for me right away did you?

I might have, but not known it. I was in a dark place when you came along.

We fell into each other’s arms quickly though. I just let myself take what you offered.

I noticed that, as you dug your fingertips into my waist and moaned. (smiles)

I seem to remember you moaning too.

You’re so very sexy darlin’ (Owen puts his arm around her shoulders and Cathy kisses his ear. Now he’s holding her head with a handful of her hair and…now they are kissing…)

Author: We are in public you two. How about telling the story? Sorry Keira…

(They stop kissing, but remain cuddled against each other. Owen is stroking Cathy’s neck. I’m ignoring it.)

Well we actually had sex when there were cleaners in the rest of the house. It’s a long story, but a locksmith was about to arrive to. It was just impossible to resist being with Owen. It was delicious. (sighs and kisses Owen on the jaw)

Author: Owen tell us something about Cathy, how would you describe her in a few words?

Owen: Cathy is strong, sexy, intelligent, pretty. She has her own business. She’s friendly too, helps people. She’s mine, which I’m so thankful for. I can’t imagine living without her now.

Cathy: That’s a lovely thing to say, I feel the same about you…(is trailing her fingertips around on his chest muscles, good thing he’s wearing a shirt. I’ll ask another question)

Cathy describe Owen in a few words.

Owen: He’s loving, he’s sexy, and surprising too. He’s creative and generous. He can still be a bad boy though…he swears…I’m used to it and sometimes it’s sexy…

Let’s just give the readers an excerpt to read and that way I can take you home to bed.

Author: I think that might be a good idea. Thanks for coming along to Keira’s blog today…mmm maybe I should have said visiting the blog since you two can hardly keep your hands off each other.

Cathy: Thank you for inviting us Keira. I do hope your readers enjoy the excerpt and the book when it’s available August 23.

Here’s the excerpt 18+ R

He kissed down her neck again and slowly moved his hands up into her T-shirt. He found her bra and unclipped it as she sighed, and kissed his ear and jaw. He cupped her breasts and sighed too. She felt so good, her skin so soft, her nipples hard against his palms. He went back to kiss her mouth, and as she opened it to touch his lips with her tongue, he groaned a little enjoying the kiss. His cock hardened and his hands left her breasts to open her jeans. She kissed him and unzipped his jeans as he unzipped hers.

She had her hands in his shorts and her fingertips were cool on his cock. He wanted to thrust so badly, but he wanted his fingers against her clit. He wanted to slip a finger into her pussy and feel the moistness, have her thrust on his hand and so he whispered. “Help me. Pull your jeans down…open your legs a little. I want my fingers in you, Cathy.” She pulled her jeans to mid-thigh and took her panties with them. She put her hands up around his face and kissed him, her tongue in his mouth as he fingered her. She was gasping and so was he. Their kisses interspersed with it.

“You feel so good…” He murmured.

She made a little sound and answered him. “It feels great, it’s delicious. Owen there are people in the house. What if they come in search of me?”

Owen felt his cock straining against his clothes.

He nibbled her lips. “I need you badly.” He was circling her clit with his thumb and working his fingers in her. She began to thrust on his fingers and held his waist hard. It made him smile against her lips as her fingers pressed hard into the sides of his body. Suddenly she was groaning softly, her mouth by the side of his. Her hips thrust and he realized she was coming. Knowing this made him harder and he groaned as she finished. He held her for a few moments waiting to judge if he should pull her down onto the floor and fuck her. His thought sent spikes of desire into his cock and up between his legs.

Cathy took his fingers gently from her body. She kissed his lips and then she pulled his jeans and shorts down to his knees. He helped her thinking she would back him against the window and straddle him, but she dropped to her knees and took his cock into her mouth. The sensation was overwhelming and he moaned as he held her head, his hands bunched in her hair. He thrust his hips towards her mouth as she sucked him and her fingers curled around his thighs. She ran her fingers over his buttocks and then between his thighs as she sucked. Owen felt his orgasm build. It started between his legs and then spread to his sac, his cock, his legs. It overtook him in a huge wave of delicious feeling that had him breathless as he it went on and on when Cathy stroked his thighs.

They both became still at the same time and then Cathy was taking his cock from her mouth. She started to stand and he helped her. He looked at her lovingly as they both pulled their clothing back into place. He wanted to cuddle her to his body, stroke her disheveled hair back behind her ears. Kiss her ears. He moved to her as she zipped up her jeans and felt behind her back to clip her bra. He held her face. “That was so good Cathy, and so helped me. I was miserable for a while, and you’ve made me happy. It’s made me happy meeting you. I want you to know…” ‘What do I want her to know? That softness fills my heart when I see her. That I actually find her lovely, sexy…that I want to fuck her…’

“You’re special to me,” he finished.

Cathy was looking at him and in her eyes he read affection, attraction.

“I have to go. I’d rather stay and snuggle up to you. Find out more about you, because you’re special to me too, but the locksmith will be here again. The cleaners are down there.”

He nodded. He knew the truth of her words.

Talking to Koo from Keeper of My Pleasure @kayelleallen #BDSM

Welcome to my blog!

Join Kayelle Allen as she interviews her character, Koo Ayakura, from the new book Keeper of My Pleasure. This BDSM romance from Ellora’s Cave features a female Domme who is older than her hero.

About the Book

komp200x329Keeper of My Pleasure features a recent college graduate, Koo Ayakura, who hires Rai Whethen as his attorney after thieves total his car and then dare to sue him. She wins, and takes him out to celebrate. Dinner leads to the hottest sex in his life, and a long-term relationship as her submissive. He adores the way she makes him feel, and the way she makes him burn. He longs to show her he has more to offer. He has a heart, and it’s hers, if only she’ll let him give it. A successful attorney in her late thirties, Rai has a penchant for handsome young men with long hair. Koo, her newest client, becomes more than her usual boy toy. He likes being tied up and whipped, and he yields the way she’d always dreamed. But he has a future ahead of him, and she’s a jaded lawyer. He wants sex, not love. Right? He wouldn’t stay with her forever. She trusts him to submit. To keep Koo, Rai is going to have trust her heart.

Interview with Koo

Kayelle:          Koo, I know you met Rai because you hired her as an attorney. What was your first impression upon meeting her?

Koo:                Her secretary ushered my father and me into her office, and when Rai shook my hand, she looked me right in the eye and held my gaze for a long minute. I about swallowed my tongue. My first impression wasn’t how beautiful she was — although it was certainly my second. My first was “Wow! This woman is powerful.”

Kayelle:          In what way?

Koo:                She’s intense. She looks at you with this steely-eyed gaze, as if she’s looking right down into your soul. I would not want to be the bad guy sitting across from her at the table. There’s something about her that lets you know if you lie — she’s going to know it before you even finish speaking.

Kayelle:          You said your second impression was that she was beautiful. Tell us about that.

Koo:                In that first meeting, I had a hard time paying attention to what she was saying. She asked me a few questions and had to repeat them because I kept thinking “OMG look at this gorgeous woman. And she’s talking to me!” *laughs* I’m sure she thought I was a space drift or that I was on something. I remember thinking that I hoped my father was paying attention so I could ask him what the hell happened later.

Kayelle:          Thieves had stolen your car that you and your father rebuilt. Tell us about the car.

Wikipedia Creative Commons Attribute 2.5

Wikipedia Creative Commons Attribute 2.5

Koo:                It’s a 1963 Jaguar XKE in cherry red, and it’s the most beautiful car in the world. Not just to me. This car is in multiple lists of the one hundred most beautiful cars of all time. I’d saved all through high school to buy a car, working two jobs, and finally bought it when I graduated. Of course, when I got it, it was in deplorable condition. My dad helped me strip it down to the bare bones and rebuild it from the ground up. It took us almost two years. The day it was stolen, I had driven it to Piedmont Park to drop off some books for a friend, and I turned it off, hopped out, ran over to the part where my friend was standing, and handed him the books. He said, “Isn’t that your car?” and I turned just in time to see two guys driving off in it. It happened fast.

Kayelle:          The car was retrieved, right?

Koo:                I called the cops immediately, and I had a tracking device on it, so it was easy to find. But those jokers tried eluding the cops, and took a turn too fast. They crashed the car, and were injured. I could not believe it when they sued me, saying if I hadn’t left the keys in the ignition they wouldn’t have been tempted to steal it. That’s when I started asking around for a lawyer.

Kayelle:          And met Rai.

Koo:                Exactly. *leans back* I hated seeing my hot red beauty get torn up like that, but thankfully, something good came out of it.

Kayelle:          So what’s next for you and Rai?

Koo:                *smiles* I don’t know. But I’m sure you’ll think of something.

Space opera – Yep, It’s Still Romance

Welcome to my blog! Today I have Nina Pierce talking about space operas!

Here’s Nina!

I’m a voracious reader. Okay, so that isn’t so much a confession as a statement of fact. But the truth that my reading tastes lean toward all things romantic—definitely is.

For a very long time I didn’t realize that everyone wasn’t falling all over themselves to find stories where the protagonists were not only tracking down the serial killer, but also working to deny their attraction for one another. I mean it’s not like I was picking up Harlequin books, which is synonymous with romance, I was enjoying the paranormal worlds of Jessica Andersen and JR Ward or the futuristic worlds of Anne McCaffrey or the historical settings of Amanda Quick.

Yep, some would say these are romances disguising themselves as another genre. I say poppycock. (I can use that word here, right? *vbg*) Romance comes in all flavors, including science fiction. And they’ve even got a cool term for it … space opera!

Space Opera – Subgenre of science fiction that emphasizes the romantic adventure, set mainly or entirely in outer space.  (Wikipedia)

For a science fiction junky like me who cut her teeth on television programs like Star Trek and Stargate and movies like Logan’s Run and Total Recall, this new subgenre is feeding my inner geek Goddess as well. I love the idea of new worlds where humans are fighting for their own corner of the universe and where true love can still be found.

In my newest release, A TOUCH OF LILLY ( the heroine is a Chicago detective turned bounty hunter, seeking revenge in deep space. I loved being able to let my muse loose to create a galaxy very different from our own, complete with aliens, futuristic weapons and of course a sexy hero. Yeah, there’s a sci fi feeling to the story, but at its core, this novel is very much a sexy (read that … adult) romance.

What about you? Are you a romance junky? Have you ever read a space opera before? What did you think (or why are you avoiding them)?

Ex-Chicago detective LILLY D’ANGELO has a secret she doesn’t share with anyone. A master of the one night stand, she’s given up ever finding a soul mate and thrown herself head first into her career. That is, until she captures the wrong alien. Kidnapped and sold into the sex slave trade, she’s shipped into deep space. Barely escaping with her life, Lilly now travels the galaxy working as a bounty hunter using her secret talents to bring down criminals and seeking revenge on the one male who ruined her life.

Agent DALLAS SAWYER works for deep space’s version of the FBI. After a disastrous mission that left several of his team members murdered, a president executed, and Dallas near death, he’s determined to take down the assassin targeting government officials. When a sexy human female gets between him and his goal, Dallas and his alien partner find themselves on the receiving end of a passionate night they won’t soon forget and a proposition that may very well blow up in their faces.

Because in deep space … true love can happen with just a touch.

A_Touch_of_Lilly_Cover_for_KindleDallas swigged the last of his Regent’s ale. Anyone who’d been watching would believe the human’s alcohol consumption would have him waxing the floor with his face. The fact he staggered away from the bar barely caused a ripple of interest. But when he bumped into the Braugtot alien disguised as a human female on the dance floor and made a rather lewd body motion—several aliens took notice.

“Baby! How about you dump this loser Ka’al and come home with me?” The words slurred from Dallas’ mouth as he wrapped himself around the Braugtot’s body. From the smell he even wondered if it was really female. But whatever the sex, the jealous Ka’al reacted just the way he’d hoped.

Rrracht narctch, rraollk. She’s with me, asshole. Beefy hands grabbed his shirt and flung him through the air. Dallas landed unceremoniously on the nearest table, breaking up a quiet conversation between two Xericks.

Sometimes he hated this part of the job. Dallas came up swinging. A left hook to one head and a right uppercut to the second and the male Xerick went down, taking out several unsuspecting Drikspa dancers. Dallas ducked as a chair flew.

Alcohol, male hormones and boredom created the diversion they’d hoped for. The fight spread like a virus through the tavern. Dallas avoided a tussle between two Ka’als, took down another Ickbata and made his way toward his partner, hoping Thaegan had managed to stop Lilly before she got through the door with their man. A very unladylike scream from the front of the bar confirmed that the alien had things under control in that area.

Dallas pushed his way to the door, watching Grebetz slip out onto the street, a Xerick close at his heels. “Gamma Team. Phase two. Znedu loose. Track him and report.” It was all he got out before meeting up with Thaegan and Lilly.

“Roger that,” echoed in his ear.

“I’ll let you up if you stop fighting me.” Thaegan had the woman face down on the floor, her arms behind her back. The Ka’al was more than twice her size, still Lilly kicked and bucked, trying to work herself free. As the fight around them escalated, Lilly’s body stilled, but not her mouth. Dallas didn’t know many dialects, but it was clear Lilly knew the word asshole in all thirty-two common languages of the Nebulae Galaxy and several more he’d never even heard of. He had no doubt the words she strung with it would have gotten him several weeks detention from the nuns at St. Christopher’s Academy back home.

He bent low and met her eyes. “Lilly, we have no intention of hurting you.”

The fear in her eyes softened to confusion and immediately hardened to anger.

Well, didn’t this just suck? Lilly had no idea how’d she’d gone from mentally counting her reward to a face plant on the sticky floor of the tavern. No amount of maneuvering had budged the three-hundred-pound Ka’al holding her down. And now the man who would star in her nightly fantasies for the next month stared at her with an amused expression.

Though Lilly knew fighting wasn’t going to get her anywhere, she screamed her frustration and kicked out, trying to dislodge the monster holding her down. She only managed to slam her foot into a table leg, which just pissed her off all the more. Dallas didn’t do a very good job of hiding his amusement.

“If you know the asshole doing chiropractic on my spine, could you kindly ask him to let me up?” she asked, her tone dripping with sweetness.

Dallas nodded and the Ka’al stood, hauling Lilly to her feet in one effortless move. The alien’s mahogany skin glistened with the coppery sheen of a man under stress. His muscular chest, barely covered by the deeply V’d tank top, heaved. Holding her down had taken no effort, but the energy she’d tried to use on the Znedu was still high and the Ka’al was paying the price of touching her.

Lilly’s body pulsed and throbbed. Her nipples were oversensitive and her sex tingled. There was no way in hell these two guys weren’t also feeling the effects of the current snapping in the air. If the residual energy she’d pulsed through the Znedu hadn’t done it, then her anger at being stopped at the door would be enough to have these males dropping to their knees. If only the Ka’al would let go of one of her hands, she might be able to do a little more work up close and personal.

Lilly leaned toward Dallas and yelled over the confusion, “I didn’t need saving this time either, but thank you again.”

Cathartic Spankings in Romance

Welcome to my blog! Today I have Paloma Beck talking about spanking!

Here’s Paloma!

People (well, Spankos) spank for lots of reasons… there’s the role-play spanking, sensual spanking, discipline spanking and the maintenance spanking. Maintenance spanking is more often seen in a Domestic Discipline relationship and is the most likely to also be categorized as a cathartic spanking. They happen fairly regularly and don’t need a defined reason.

What sets them apart from the others? Cathartic spankings achieve the result of not only a red bottom but also a deep, healing sobbing. Have you ever heard that saying “Everyone needs a good cry”? Well, here’s where it can be achieved. The tears during a cathartic spanking are healing, bringing about a focus and clarity. They are like a spiritual cleansing and can bring about a wonderfully intimate moment with your partner. Of course, they are, more often than not, intertwined with sexual feelings and sensuality. But hey, who would complain about that?

Today’s romance novels are bursting with spankings… from the lighter edge to the heavier… and everything in between!

Spanking, in general, is an emotionally intense kink. On the very surface, adult spanking is all about the heat. Yet on a deeper level, the spanking can heal wounds, comfort and restore the intimacy between a couple. It’s that healing that makes a spanking cathartic.

In the latest book in my paranormal romance series, Frozen Fury, the heroine is burdened with the soul sin of Anger. On the advice of a friend who practices Domestic Discipline, her mate uses spanking as a release for her anger until they can remove the sin forever through their mated bond ritual. Here’s a sexy little excerpt to well, you know, enjoy…

Gage kneeled in front of her on one knee and took her hand. “Let me help.” His words were simple but immediately unloaded the burden she carried. Amelia was awed by this large Valendite Breed kneeling before her. His dark brown hair was cropped short and his handsome face defined with deep ridges along his cheekbones. Gage was pure masculine beauty, but she wouldn’t tell him that.

Amelia simply nodded. Maybe he actually could help her. He kissed her knuckles and raised himself to sit beside her. She didn’t give it a second thought when he patted his knee, but simply moved to sit on his lap and seek comfort. Then, to her surprise, she screeched when he tugged her across his lap as if she were a child to be disciplined.

With a giggle, Amelia asked, “What are you doing?” She kicked out her feet and held onto Gage for balance. He must be playing with her, trying to help her to relax away from her anger.

“You see, I’ve been told a spanking is cathartic, a means for releasing pent up energy. In your case, that’s anger. So I thought we’d give it a try.” Gage was very matter-of-fact about what he was doing, but since he wasn’t playful, Amelia’s anxiety soared.

“Give it a try? You intend to spank me?”

“Yep? How about ‘nope’?” Now Amelia was enraged. “How dare you think to do this to me? You have no right!”

“Oh, there’s where you’re wrong. I have every right. I’m your mate.” Amelia couldn’t see his grin, but she knew it was there. The grin he wore to say he owned the moment. And damn him, she knew he was right but she most certainly didn’t have to like it.

With her torso and legs dangling down from either side of his lap, Amelia was held firmly in place with no way to escape. She was truly at his mercy and that just made her angrier. How dare he do this?

A flush stole over her skin as Gage tugged up the ruffles of her maxi skirt. She pinched her eyes closed, waiting for his reaction when he found her tiny thong underneath. Amelia wasn’t disappointed by the inhalation of breath she heard from her mate. His hand ran over her naked ass under her skirt as the cool air nipped at her skin. She felt obscene with her skirt now around her waist and her ass bared with only her tiny scrap of a thong.

Gage rubbed along the cheeks of her ass until they felt warmer to the touch. Amelia felt her clit swell even as her bottom grew sensitive. The blood seemed to center in these two areas of her body and she couldn’t think straight. Her concentration was solely focused on her mate.

“I’d like to try this. I believe you do too but if you truly want me to stop, say so now. Right now, Amelia, is your only chance to say ‘stop’. It’s now or it’s never again,” Gage spoke with a voice of conviction that caused a shudder to pass down Amelia’s spine.

She didn’t make a sound.

Gage lifted his hand from her bottom. She was bereft of his touch for one second before she heard its descent and felt his palm strike her ass. He hadn’t held back much of his Breed strength. There was no gentleness. Gage spanked her in steady, heavy strokes. Goddess help her, tears sprung immediately to her eyes. Still, she held her tongue and refused to cry out. After at least a dozen, he stopped and softly rubbed her ass cheeks again. This time, his ministrations brought the sting to the surface in waves of heat and pinpricks of sensation. It wasn’t pleasant but neither was it unpleasant.

“You’re doing well, sweetheart, but you don’t need to hold back. Allow all of that emotion you hold inside to come out.” Gage spoke softly, coaxingly, but still Amelia held her cries inside.

The next series of slaps came in a rhythm and Amelia fell into the pattern with ease. It stung, but as she focused on the stinging, she realized the pain inside—the anger—wasn’t so strong anymore. She could take deep breaths without feeling weighted down in fury.

Her body was quivering. She couldn’t think beyond the constant sting of the spanking. Amelia raised her bottom towards Gage’s palm, instinctively seeking more. She craved more, needed the release this was providing her from the constant anger. She opened her mouth without thought and allowed the first of her cries to leave her. She let go one after another until her body shook with the sobbing.

“Good girl. Let it all out. This is what you needed, just this, just to be able to let it all go.” Gage spoke as he continued the rhythm.

Amelia did just as he said, crying softly now into his leg even as she began to feel his palm gentle on her bottom until he was massaging. She wiggled, but a single slap stopped her movement. She was too limp to move off him anyway. She relaxed into his hold and floated, not feeling anything. Content.

“You did so well. How do you feel?” Gage asked her as if she could actually think or speak. She honestly wasn’t certain she could do either in the moment.

“I-I don’t know. I feel relieved.” She also felt exposed and vulnerable but chose not to mention that. She wasn’t accustomed to any of these emotions and needed to consider them before she talked about them.

“That’s what I was going for. You see, a catharsis of sorts. I’d say I’ve successfully spanked the anger right out of you.” Gage chuckled and the infusion of his humor lightened the moment. Gage was still himself and she was still Amelia. Nothing had changed and yet, maybe everything had.

D/S On the Lighter Side

Welcome to the blog! Today I have Dani Wade talking about a lighter side of the dominant/submissive lifestyle.

Here’s Dani!

I don’t claim to write BDSM. This increasingly popular subcategory of romance has some incredible writers in it. But my characters aren’t involved directly in the lifestyle, and don’t perform outright acts of SM. I instead included this description in my first Backstage Pass book blurb: Lite dominant/submissive themes. Why? Because I write real characters who have dominant or submissive tendencies, know how to act on them, but don’t need to go to a specialty club to do so.

I have nothing against those types of books, and in fact love reading them myself! My favorite are the Club Shadowlands books by Cherise Sinclair, and Lexi Blake’s Master’s and Mercenaries series. But that’s not who my characters are or where my books are set. Very few readers (with jobs, lives, kids) can go to a sex club every weekend. But from my books they can see dom/sub interaction play out in more accessible settings and circumstances. Hopefully inspiring some adventures of their own…

My characters are colored with the strengths and demanding ways of a practicing dom, and the need to have dominant control and guide the response until nothing remains but the feelings. Needs many readers of this genre can relate to and enjoy. Michael doesn’t need to tie Taylor down every time. He enjoys the challenge of controlling her with a firm hand to hold her still, a word to halt an attempt to cover herself, a sharp tap when she seeks to hide herself from him out of embarrassment. A dynamic that allows Taylor to forget her worries and self-consciousness and experience the incredible passion only Michael can inspire.

So, is D/S on the lighter side something you think can enhance an erotic romance without having to go all out? What degree of BDSM works for you in a story? One lucky commenter will win an Amazon or B&N gift card!

FindingHerRhythm436x648“The paparazzi have it all wrong.”

Frozen at the bottom of the stairs, Taylor found herself asking, “What?”

“They have it all wrong, about my brother and me. I don’t have sex with a new woman every night. We didn’t hold orgies on the tour bus. And I didn’t need whips and chains to get my wife to have sex with me.”

Apparently she wasn’t listening to the right kind of gossip shows.

He stalked to her as he spoke again. “People want us to be edgy, raw. After all, we’re rock gods. But my needs are relatively simple.”

Without volition, she found herself backed up to the wall, her fingers flat against the wainscoting to give her some piece of reality to hold on to. Though a part of her was still scared, a growing part of her felt the kindle of arousal.

He leaned in close, resting his forearm on the wall beside her head. The fire behind him obscured his face. Her pulse pounded as she felt space narrow to the inches separating them. He surrounded her, and every muscle in her body wanted to surrender.

If you could have any rock star as your hero, who would it be? One commenter will be chosen to win an Amazon or B&N gift card!

Struggling after the death of her parents, Taylor let her hormones lead her into the biggest mistake of her life. Now she has a dangerous ex who still wants to own her and a desperate need for safety. What could be safer than her new job as a rock star nanny? Except now she’s locked herself in with a man who is potentially more dangerous…to her heart.

Michael Korvello has a dominant nature and a lonely heart that he keeps firmly under wraps. His kids have suffered enough for the mistakes of his past. But his new nanny has those dark desires howling at the gate. The only thing keeping him in check is the fear lurking in those brilliant green eyes. Can he earn her trust, and the right to transform all her desires into reality?

Just when neither can deny their need for each other, Taylor’s ex shows up like an unlucky charm, intent on taking back what he considers his…even if he has to destroy Michael’s world to get to her. Can two kindred souls protect the passionate love they ache for from an outsider bent on ripping them apart?

Available at Amazon, B&N, and other online retailers.

Sexually Repressed My Bustle

Welcome back to my blog. Today I have Sarah Cass talking about the misconception of repression during the Victorian era.

Here’s Sarah!

I’d like you to meet Jane Doe.

She’s the heroine of my historical western romance series – The Dominion Falls Series (Changing Tracks-book 1, Derailed-book 2, Dark Territory- book 3).

At first glance, she’s a right-proper woman. “Properly” repressed. Dresses like a schoolmarm with her high collars, layers of petticoats, corsets and such.

But Jane is sort of the epitome of the great lie of the Victorian era.

She is proud of her sexuality (and a bit of an exhibitionist). It causes great scandal and rumors in the town, but she has no qualms about her very hot relationship with the owner of the local saloon/brothel.

At the same time, she goes to church on Sunday, performs charitable acts across the board, and is well liked by most of the town.  She doesn’t let herself be ostracized by it, because she accepts what she is.

There’s a great rumor that people have tried to call me out on, that the Victorian era is ripe with sexual repression. That my ‘proper’ woman wouldn’t be so open about what she’s doing.  That the brothel would be frowned on far more than it is, especially by Jane – who is, by all accounts, a strong and intelligent woman. Why would she take up with a man that ‘owns’ women?

First off, the Victorians might have liked and appreciated that we think they were so repressed.  Holy cow, they weren’t.  It’s all about keeping up appearances, but porn was rampant back then.  With the invention of the camera especially.

Did you know that back then men were expected to “ease” themselves?  It was rather expected of them because men’s needs were supposedly greater than women (pffft, whatever, right?).  Brothels were a staple, especially in mining towns like Dominion Falls.

Does Jane like that there are whores?  Well, no…but she also is smart enough to know that they are a fact of life in the town.  She might rather her man didn’t ‘own’ the contracts of so many women, and she might, over time, work him over – but she can barely admit they have a relationship, why on earth would she demand he change his business?

Also – some of the literature.  Jane is a huge fan of Whitman, Leaves of Grass is always on her bedside table. If you have a chance, read “I sing the body electric” and tell me Victorian era people were repressed.

Do you like your Western women, or Victorian era women proper? Or do you like them a little naughty like Jane?

Derailed (Dominion Falls Book 2)

The sins of a past she can’t remember could destroy a present she’ll never forget.

The crimes of her forgotten past threaten the very life Jane Doe has learned to cherish.

Jane is out of time. With a warrant on her head, a maniac out for her blood, and a secret baby on the way, something has to give.

Without Cole Mitchell’s help to find the answers, there may be no hope left.

Cole has nowhere left to hide. He unwittingly let Jane into his heart, and is ready to share the secret of his dark past.

Fate has a way of playing its hand, and tragedy strikes. With the world crumbling around them, it’s easy to lose faith. If they can’t forgive past sins, they have no hope for the future.

Because the noose waits for no man or woman.

DerailedCover_MEDShe slowed in the middle of the street and turned to face him. Every pain surged to the front again, beating on her good intentions. She snapped, “Yes?”

“Thought you might be tryin’ to get my attention.”

“It seems I have.”

Every inch of her was shivering, but she held out her shaky hand toward him. When his hand closed over hers, her whole body stilled. Closing her eyes, she sighed and reveled in the contact. “I was wrong. About so many things.”

He yanked her close, chucking a finger under her chin to make her open her eyes again. A leer curled up his lips. “I ain’t gonna—”

The last thing she was going to do was let him bark at her, deserved or not. She grabbed his shirt and closed the distance. Her lips caressed his until he started to respond, and then she shoved him away. Already aching from the loss of contact, she stepped back.

“What the hell?”

A smirk tugged at her lips, and she took a few more steps backward. Frustration, confusion, maybe even a hint of relief. That’s what she’d hoped to see, and he hadn’t disappointed. The rest would have to wait for quiet. Would he follow?

The sound of a step after her confirmed that he would, so she turned. Her hands were still shaking, but she managed to unlock the door and step inside. Fighting the nervous flutter of her stomach, she grabbed some books to shelve.

She had so much to say, and she had no idea how he’d react. He might just walk away again. If that was the case, she’d have to accept it. She couldn’t keep putting herself through this. It was just as likely he didn’t feel the same.

One footstep. Two. The door clicked shut. Silence.

The book she held trembled as she shoved it into place. She couldn’t let him speak first. She had to get this out. “I thought it had to be without attachment. I thought I was honest with myself. With you. But it was all such a lie.”

“What was a lie?”

“All of it. I fooled myself into thinking that I could do things how I thought you wanted. But I couldn’t. I was happy. With you. It wasn’t just having you in my bed…it was all of it.”

Her eyes closed, and she pressed her forehead into the shelf in front of her. “I was happy when I realized I was carrying your child. Maybe it was stupid to feel that way, but I was. But I couldn’t show you. I couldn’t show you that you—you were the only one that made me feel.” A hollow laugh escaped. “The one man that made me feel everything and I could show you nothing.”

A tear slipped down her cheek at the lack of response, and she pulled back from the shelf. Taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly, she finally let herself turn toward him, trying to prepare herself for anything. “Are you going to say anything?”

“Crazy bitch.”

Right up until that very moment she’d had hope. Hope that Cole would feel the same. That she wouldn’t have to live with the gaping wound.

Crazy bitch. The words rolled through her head over and over. That was it. It was all gone. Her knees trembled, threatening to give out. She turned and gripped the bookshelf, struggling to find her voice.

She croaked like a frog, her throat was so thick with emotion. “Oh. I see. That answers my question.” She pushed off the shelf, but didn’t make it a step.

His hand clamped on her shoulder, and he turned her toward him. He tugged her close and assaulted her lips.

She gripped his coat and pulled him close. A soft whimper of relief escaped her mouth as it opened under his unrelenting demands.

Fear, desire, longing, missing, searching.

Oh, how she’d missed his touch. Every muscle turned to jelly, quivering under his strong hands. He cupped her buttocks and started to lift, and she gasped.

Keira here again!

Thanks for being here, Sarah. I don’t think they were as repressed as people thought they were either.

Magda Alexander talks about Storm Damages

Welcome to the blog! Today I have Magda Alexander talking about her book Storm Damages.

Here’s Magda!

First of all, I want to thank Keira for inviting me to her blog. It’s my very first one after publishing my debut novel, STORM DAMAGES, a sizzling contemporary romance.  Here’s the blurb:

Storm-DamagesBook1_webPromising law student Elizabeth Watson struggled throughout her entire life to claw out of her dirt poor background. And now the brass ring is within her grasp—an associate position at the law firm where she works. As long as she keeps up her grades, makes law review, and stays out of trouble. But trouble is just what walks in the door one scorching hot summer day.

When Gabriel Storm walks into Elizabeth’s life she wants nothing to do with him. After all, he’s on the opposing side of a business deal her law firm represents.  If she’s seen with him, she can kiss her career goodbye. But after one sizzling encounter in his limo, she can’t stay away from the billionaire who put the “B” in bad boy, and soon she’s embroiled in an affair hot enough to incinerate her doubts. She should walk away, hell, she should run away, but she can’t. Because all she cares about is his kiss, his touch, and the fires he lights when she’s in his arms.

An urgent heat flares in Gabriel Storm’s eyes. “Are you attached, Elizabeth?” he asks in a gravelly voice, barely loud enough for me to hear.

My legs turn to rubber. My breath hitches. “Attached?”

His thumb scrapes the inside of my wrist, setting off a wild pulse within. “Do you have a partner, a significant other, a boyfriend?”

“No.” I blurt out before I can think about the appropriateness of his question. Or my response.

“Good.” The hold on my wrist relaxes. It’s only then I realize how tense he’d been. As if my answer mattered to him. “Are you free tonight?”

What the—? Yeah, we shared a moment in the elevator and when I entered the conference room. But he’s on the opposing side of a half billion dollar deal. I can’t go out with him.

Not wishing to appear rude, though, I sidestep the question. “Chances are I’ll be working late.”

“Surely Carrey won’t keep you. He’ll want you to be fresh tomorrow morning for the negotiations. Meet me for drinks at my hotel. I’m staying at The Four Seasons. Around seven?”

I try to say something. But stunned by the turn of events, I can’t.

He palms a card from his jacket. “My mobile number. Call me when you leave the office so I know when to expect you.” He strokes the card against my cheek.

His touch sets off something within, a trembling I can’t control.

As he slips the card into my hand, his eyes turn the color of a savage storm. “You’re very responsive, Elizabeth. I like that.” And with that, he strolls away, all liquid movement and languid grace.

What the hell just happened? I didn’t say yes. You didn’t say no. Elizabeth. His panty-melting voice whispers inside my head.

About Magda Alexander:

Magda loves piña coladas and walks in the rain. Okay, enough of that. Rewind.

Magda loves reading steamy romances which she’s been doing since she was ten. Ummm, that’s not quite true. Steamy romances did not exist when she was ten, and if they had, she’s pretty sure her mother would not have allowed her to read them. She did read the hand-holding, longing- glances kind, along with her catechism, which got her into trouble more than once. Let’s just say, Mother Superior was not amused.

As soon as sexy romances came into existence, she’s been lapping them up. So when it came time to write one, guess what she wrote. A no-brainer, right?

Magda, a lifelong learner, attended the University of Maryland where she majored in Business Administration (because her family had to eat) and minored in English (because she needed to dream). She’s lived in Maryland most of her life and now resides close to the Catoctin Mountains in a city whose history dates back to colonial times.

Why Alexandra writes erotic romance

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today I have Alexandra Anthony talking about why she writes erotic romance with a blurb for her book.

Here’s Alexandra!

When I first decided to write professionally, I knew two things: I wanted to write an erotic romance and I wanted to write about vampires.  So why not combine the two?  To me, vampires exude raw sexuality and without the burden of writing those fade to black sex scenes, I had a lot of freedom with my writing.

I currently write two paranormal erotic romance series: The Vampire Destiny Series and The Dark Hart Chronicles.  When I had the ‘a-ha’ moment for my idea for Tempted, I thought it would be so much fun to combine the world of rock ‘n’ roll AND sexy vampires.  And since my vampires are day walkers, I don’t have that pesky problem of my vamps dying for the day (which gives me a lot more time for my characters to get frisky).

Erotic romance books are not for everyone.  But for me, I can’t imagine writing anything else!

Book Blurb:

546170_310961182338675_1891104345_nWhen personal assistant Savannah Wood lands a dream job with up and coming rock star Nick Hart, it seems too good to be true. He’s devastatingly handsome, reserved and charming…but he has a secret he’s determined to keep.

Their attraction to one another is immediate and Savannah is determined to keep a professional relationship between them. She’s been burned before and has no desire to reopen old wounds.

The lines between professional and personal begin to blur when Savannah finds out Nick’s secret: he’s a century old vampire with a painful past. He’s also hesitant to open himself up to her, yet they find their temptation to one another is stronger than either can resist.

The paparazzi, a string of murders and cryptic, ominous letters threaten their budding relationship. Will their attraction and love be enough to keep them together…or will it tear them apart?

*This is an erotic, romantic book. It contains sexy vampires, graphic language, adult content and situations that aren’t for the faint of heart or those 18 and under.  Consider yourself warned.*

About Alexandra Anthony:

Alexandra Anthony is an independent author of two romantic, erotic book series: The Vampire Destiny Series and The Dark Hart Chronicles.  Both series feature sexy vampires to die for, steamy scenes and twists and turns in her character’s many adventures.  Her books are not for the faint of heart.

She was most recently featured in USA Today in an article by Joyce Lamb titled, “It’s time to put some Paranormal Activity into your Reading” and was listed under Self-Published/Indie Authors for her most recent release, ‘Ascend (The Vampire Destiny Series Book 4)’.

Late 19th Century pregnancy corsets

Welcome to a new feature on my blog! Guest bloggers! Today I have Seven McBay talking about corsets. But not any corsets. Pregnancy corsets.

Here’s Seven!

First, I’d like to thank Keira Kohl for letting me visit with her and her readers on her blog. Great fun to be here! And now, without further ado:

Late-19th-Century Pregnancy Corsets

If there is one thing that men found sexy in the late 1800s, it was the female hourglass figure. By mid-century, gone were the Edwardian gowns that cinched in under the breasts and fell to the floor like shapeless nightgowns (think Jane Austen). By mid-century on, women strove to show their curves and to create them where they had none. Women’s fashion played around with corsets and bustles each decade, always trying to achieve that perfectly alluring figure. (Even the Edwardian women wore corsets, but they were designed to make the woman into a column from under the breasts straight down.)

By the 1860s, there were crinolines and hoopskirt cages along with the mandatory wasp-waist corset. By the 1880s, the hoopskirt gave way to a bustle, which still gave everything below the waist a generous roundness, especially the derriere. Yet despite the changes in dress shape that went on below the waist, the corset didn’t change much from 1776 to 1876.

Flaring hips, wasp-like waist, and thrusting breasts—the corset’s effectiveness rivaled that of any modern girdle and push-up bra. Not only did it make women look great in their clothes, the corset looked pretty darn sexy after the man removed all the other layers (sometimes up to 13 lbs. of layers). He could feast his eyes on his woman in nothing but pantaloons or drawers, stockings, and a corset. That usually led to amorous congress (that’s sexual relations to you and me).

At that point, the woman might find herself in a certain condition, enceinte, or with child. What to do about keeping that lovely figure? Naturally, women turned to the pregnancy corset. This wasn’t designed to offer support though they needed it. Their stomachs had been trussed from an early age in whale bone stays and leather (among other corset constructions), so their abdominal muscles were rather . . . well, non-existent. Stick a baby in there and that stomach was going to sag all over the place, and rather quickly.

Enter the pregnancy corset which, though it offered much-needed support, was mainly used to create the illusion of not being pregnant for as long as possible. In some cases, probably too long. It seemed to push the baby as low as possible to go into the section of the skirt that would be fullest, and, of course, it squeezed the infant into the smallest space imaginable. Poor mother, poor baby. But, hey, as long as the woman looked good!

Next week, the joys of chastity belts. Just kidding! But as for me, I’m happy to put on a corset for visual purposes only and I’ll keep doing crunches for the abdominals when the corset comes off.

Bio: Seven McBay

I’ve been writing for many years and have recently turned my attention to historical erotica. I need to use that B.A. in history and M.A. in English lit. for something, right? And who doesn’t want to write (or read) about a sexy lord unlacing his lady-love’s corset by candlelight before he . . . well, engages in amorous congress with her? I know I do.

The clothes were more beautiful, definitely sexier, and a lot more difficult to remove in the nineteenth century. What a fertile field for a writer of erotica. I also write historical romance under a different pen name. Shh! That’s a secret.

As for my own slightly unusual name, I was born on a lucky day, that’s all!
