Not Your Average Holiday Party

Today I’ve got Naomi Bellina on the blog talking about holiday parties!

Here’s Naomi!

With the holidays just around the corner, many people are thinking about parties. Exciting, glamorous, elegant, romantic …or maybe, not so much. Some holiday parties are dull, miserable affairs, and that’s a shame. They could be so much fun.

The problem is, hosts and hostesses have certain ideas of what are acceptable activities at an adult event, and that’s what they go with. Party planners need to step outside the box, and come up with more creative ideas to entertain their guests.

In my latest book, Out of the Ordinary, a half mad, often inebriated king has his very own party planet, Porrima. I got to thinking, what would I do if I had a place with unlimited funds to throw a bash? I would have big fun, that’s for sure. No boring music, no tedious entertainment, and only the most delicious food would be served. As my little mind wandered, alone and unsupervised, here are some of the ideas I came up with.

Bubbles for party favors. You know, the kind you used to have when you were a kid. You dunked the wand in the bottle, then waved it around to make multi-colored bubbles. Instead of using sticky soap, mine will be made out of the drink of your choice, and produce sparkly, rainbow colored bubbles. The liquid won’t be tacky, and when you’re done playing, you can drink what’s left.

Personal chefs. Many people I talk to are on some sort of diet, so my chefs will prepare whatever you want, and it will be delicious. You don’t eat meat? No problem, plenty of vegetarian dishes. No gluten? They can work with that too. Trying to cut out carbs? They have just the thing. You tell them what you want, they fix it.

Spa room. If you’ve ever seen the Express Spas at select airports, this is what I’ll have at my party. They’re like mini spas where you can get a short or full massage, manicure, pedicure and facial treatments. I’ll have two or three rooms set up, and lots of attendants.  My hero and heroine get to spend a little bit of time in a spa on Porrima, and I had a lot of fun creating that atmosphere.

Shoe carousel party favors. Who doesn’t love to shop for shoes, when it’s as easy as spinning a huge platform, decked out with every imaginable style? Whether you love flip-flops, boots, sneakers, pumps, or even fuzzy slippers, you’ll find something that makes you smile. Your size will be ordered and shipped to you, and every style will come in wide, narrow, whatever you need.

Finger painting. I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember the last time I dipped my fingers in some paint and swirled it around. My party will have a whole wall designated for this, along with a huge sheet of paper. Everyone can make a design, then tear it off to take home. I’ll even have frames available, if desired. For those who really get into this event and want a little after-party romance, tubes of body paint will be on hand to take home, to continue the fun with a partner.

What about you? Do you have something outrageous you’d like to see at a party? I’d love to hear about it.

Thank you for having me as your guest, Keira Kohl, and happy holidays to everyone!

Out of the Ordinary

Keira here! Thank you so much for being here Naomi. I love some of these ideas.

Check out Close Contact

Today on the blog I’m spotlighting a new release! Not mine, friends of mine. It’s a sports anthology and I think you’re going to like it a lot!

It’s called Close Contact and here’s a little about it:

Hard-hitting contact sports don’t have the only sexy professional athletes. Does the strength and grace of golf, tennis and fencing instructors extend to their lustier activities? Find out as they turn these classic sports into full-contact steamy sessions.

Service Ace by Cassandra Carr

Callum Giovanni’s professional tennis career is over. He’s trying not to be bitter about it, even though it means teaching women more interested in not messing up their hair and nails than a good service.

Then Adriana Macy appears, claiming to be a novice, but Callum knows there’s more to her than meets the eye. How far does she want to take their personal match? The ball’s in her court.

Playing Through by Cristal Ryder

A relationship is the last thing Lexie is looking for, especially one with a hot cowboy wanting golf lessons. It’s all she can do to keep her focus on the game and off Jay’s hard muscled body and devilishly sexy face. But the more lessons they have, the farther his sexy drawl gets under her skin.

Does he feel the attraction too? Mother Nature forces them to seek shelter as the power of a thunderstorm lets loose around them. Will they go primal and unleash their attraction for one another amidst the rawness of the Rocky Mountains?

Up to the Hilt by Cindy Carr

Olympic fencing wunderkind Sebastian Como is Rina Rogers’ last resort to find someone who can instruct her toward her own Olympic medals. All her other trainers have balked, saying she is too impulsive, too unmanageable, too everything.

Sebastian recognizes her talent and tells her he’ll take her all the way. But does that include his bed?

Check out these short excerpts from the stories:

Cassandra Carr’s Service Ace

Cal and Adriana enjoyed a fun dinner, their flirting progressing as the meal went on. She needed to make her move, especially since Cal seemed to share her interest. He paid for the meal and they left. Once at the car, he handed her in and then got in the other side. Now or never. She reached over the center console and palmed his cock.

“Shite!” He looked over, his eyes wide.

“Look, I’m not normally this forward, but I want you.” Unable to hide a small smile as his cock swelled in her hand, she looked away. “Well, for more than your tennis expertise.”

“Are you sure?”

“Do you often have women who don’t want you for sex stroking your dick?”

“I don’t often have women stroking my dick for any reason.”

She faced him. “Really?”

“Really.” He swallowed.

“I guess it’s both of our lucky days then.”

Cristal Ryder’s Playing Through

Get a grip, Lexie. He’s a student.

She bit her lower lip and tried not to let her thoughts go to the erotic, but she feared it was way too late for that. Another quick glance at him, and damn if he wasn’t looking at her. He laid his arm along the back of their seats. Under her pale peach golf shirt, the flesh between her shoulders rippled, anticipating his touch. Would he run his fingers down her spine or up to her neck and into her hair? She felt the presence of his hand at her back as clearly as if he touched her. She willed him to and was disappointed when he didn’t.

The sun went behind a cloud, and she glanced up. Doppler had shown a chance of rain or thunderstorms. Wouldn’t that be great—a crashing storm during the lesson would really screw things up.

“It’s beautiful out here, isn’t it?” His words startled her, but oh how she loved to hear him speak.

Keep talking, cowboy. “Yes, it is.”

“Have you been west before?”

The magic of his voice cast some kind of sexual spell over her until she could barely think straight, let alone form cohesive words. “Ah, no.” Lexie concentrated on her driving and her words, which seemed to vanish on her tongue. “First time.”

“What brought you out here?”

“Fluke, really. They offered me a position and I was ready for a change.”

“Lucky me.”

She glanced at him to see if he was teasing and nearly swallowed her tongue. His dark gaze bored into her. Her intuition screamed he would be receptive if she just said the word.

Cindy Carr’s Up to the Hilt

Finally, a man who could be no other than Sebastian Como, dressed in a black velvet warm-up suit, strolled out the door. “Holy shit,” she whispered. He was gorgeous. Sex on a spoon. About six-three with dark, curly hair, brilliant green eyes, and a killer smile. Plus, he appeared to be in his mid-twenties. He was awfully young to be a master fencer with his own academy, but she knew his story. Everyone in the business knew about him—boy genius, Olympic star and all, but the photo in the school’s website hadn’t done him justice by a long shot.

He needed a new photographer. Badly.

She needed air.

He met her halfway across the floor and shook her hand. Zings of heat flew up her arm.

Man candy. Yum. But she couldn’t let anything get in her way of success. His royal hotness would have to be stuck in her back pocket until she had time to explore him. Slowly. Very slowly.

Their gazes collided like lasers. Wars could start that way.

An interview with erotica author Daryl Devore

I want to thank Daryl for being here with me today. I love having someone on the blog from my province!

Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a full time writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share.

Thanks for letting me visit. I live in Ontario Canada with my husband and pets. I write. I left the real world and now I write.  When I’m not at my laptop, I love to garden. I have a good size vegetable garden where I fight it out with the local wildlife population. Did you know chipmunks love corn on the cob! So do bears – but we won’t go there! I grew up in the city, but have lived out here in the country for 25 yrs and I love it- except there’s no pizza delivery!

1. How did you get started writing?

When someone handed me a pencil.

2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?

Erotic romance – contemporary, historical and currently working on a fantasy. Why? I have no idea why?  Writing erotic was not where I ever planned to go. It’s just where I ended up.

3. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?

The hot tub.  Something somebody said. A line pops into my head. I’m quiet, your basic wall flower. But what I’m doing is watching people. How do they interact? How do they stand, hold a drink, laugh. And from what I see or hear an ideas bubbles around in the back of my head until it is ready and then it pops forward and says – well screams actually, “Tada!!”

4. What is it that makes your writing different from all the others in your genre?

My voice. That is the only thing I can claim.  I’ve read several books and hundreds of chapters by other  romance and erotic romance authors and I am humbled and envious of what they have written.

5. Are you an avid reader?  When you do read someone else’s writing, what is your favorite genre?

Let’s say I used to be an avid reader – now I’m an avid critiquer and beta.  But when I do have to get away from it all and read “something else” – it’s a murder mystery. I love to cuddle up next to my wood stove with a big hot chocolate and an Agatha Christie.  I own all of her books. They are like dear friends.

6. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?

Capri’s Fate is my erotic fantasy that is currently being written. It is about a junior vice president who falls in love with a hot male voice. When is it going to be published – first I have to finish it. Then I’ll worry about the next part.

Had a great time.  🙂

Here’s a tiny tease –

“Do you trust me?” Kat gazed at me with her dark chocolate eyes mellowed-from-too-much-wine and a goofy grin on her face.

I’ve seen that innocent demeanor before; it meant nothing but trouble. I was a bit wary—okay—a lot wary. Last time she’d gawked at me like that and asked the same brainless question, we ended up at a frat house beer slosh during Homecoming and I wasn’t in college anymore.

A cab pulled up and stopped. She slid in first. “Convention Center.”

“What’s at the convention center?” I sat next to her and shut the car door.

“That’s the trust me bit.”

You have to love air-quotes.

I checked my Blackberry for messages then glanced at her. “Is this going to get me arrested? Again.”

She shook her head.

“Is it going to get me hit on – again – by horny, beer-soaked, college drunks?”

Kat giggled.

“Is that a yes or a no?”

Sexy Red Hood – Blurb

“Go save your Grandmother.” After learning her grandmother booked a cruise with a supposed gigolo and is squandering her inheritance, Esmeralda (Red) Hood boards Emerald Forest cruise ship to protect both.

Once there, Red slips and falls into the arms of Wilhelm Olf, a dark-eyed, continental who makes her body tingle. Stepping out of the elevator, she barges into Andrew Woodsman, a bumbling private school teacher on his first vacation cruise.

With her attention torn between the dissimilar but sexually-intriguing men and keeping watch over tequila drinking, rock wall climbing grandma, Red’s cruise is filled with fun and erotic fantasies.

Grandmother’s warning of Never trust a wolf in sheep’s clothing leaves Red confused. Later, when she wakes up in a utility closet, hands and feet bound and emerald necklace missing, Red discovers the man she suspected is not only innocent but also the one she loves.

Dance with Brynna

Happy Hallowe’en sexy people! Please welcome Brynna Curry to the blog today! She’s talking about dance. Such a sexy activity.

Here’s Brynna!

“Dance with me”

Three little words. Simple words really, both a demand and request. Alone they shouldn’t evoke provocative images. We all dance. (Some of us not so well. *raises hand*) What’s the big deal right? It’s just a dance. Or is it?

In a romance, dance has the power to tell more than words. Dancing can be a sensual war, a duel. Does the heroine move seamlessly with his rhythm or fight to keep her own ground. Cling or pull away? Barriers of propriety are often dropped as well. The hero may deny his attraction to the heroine. Perhaps he even has a ‘hands off’ policy where she is concerned, but let them dance and see what happens. *winks*

There is a reason why movies like Dirty Dancing are classic. (Love the last dance scene. *sigh*) And then there are the songs. Toby Keith’s “You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like This” is one that comes to mind. Historical romances are filled with fancy ballrooms and parties. So what are your favorite sweet or sexy dance scenes from novels? Anyone who leaves a comment with an email address will be entered to win a copy of Fire’s Ice.

Thanks for allowing me to visit with you today!

Excerpt – (Steamy)

© 2012 Brynna Curry

“Dance with me? I’ve been dying to get my hands on you all evening.” It had been so much worse to wait, imagining her under him in the dark and knowing where his hands could take her. He snapped his fingers and disembodied soul music floated around them. “A little Earth, Wind and Fire seems appropriate.” Devin stood and pulled her up out of her chair and into his arms. Ari pressed against him, slid her hands up to his shoulders. His went around her waist and held her close.

“I would love to. I’ve wanted your hands on me all evening.” Her pretty mouth curved into a smile and she tossed her long hair back.

He shifted his feet, leading her into the dance, giving her no choice but to follow him. On a downbeat, he captured her hand and spun her away, only to bring her twirling back into his arms. He heard her breath catch as he caught her against his chest.

Hearts afire, love desire,” Devin sang along softly with the music as her feet followed his, hips shifted under his hands. Her fingers combed through his hair now as they moved slowly across the great hall. Ari’s heels clicked across the slate with every step. Her thin silk dress left nothing to the imagination, not that he needed to imagine what she looked like, felt like.

Devin let the rhythm of the music seduce them. His body ached with need. Here. Now. It screamed. He could turn her against the wall, take her until they were both drowning in passion. And he knew that’s exactly what she wanted. Ari wanted a raging fire that would burn itself out in time. He had shown her the heat, that wild, lightning fast ride of desire, but there was more, so much more. He intended to give her everything possible.

“This is nice.” She sighed and laid her head on his shoulder.

“More than nice. We move well together.”

     Her eyes twinkled. “Oh, yes.”

Tilting up her chin so he could look into her eyes, Devin took her lips in a gentle kiss that held the promise of heat. The low, sweet notes of the song ended. And still they danced.

Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, “Ari?”

“Yes, Devin.” He watched as she sent the candle flames into the hearth, leaving them in the dim firelight.

“Close your eyes.” Lifting her in his arms, he found his center of power and focused on the place he wanted to take her. The dark swirled around them as he bent space and flashed them to his bedroom on the second floor.

Keira here!

Oh very steamy, Brynna! Love it. I love your take on dance here. I use dance in my current WIP. I will pay more attention to that scene now when I revise it.

Sweet, sexy dreams!

There’s nothing like sexy clothes to make you feel great!

I’d like to welcome Tiffany Rose to the blog today talking about costumes. I love costumes!

Here’s Tiffany.

My husband and I attended Anime Weekend Atlanta at the end of September. The thought and expense that went into some costumes blew me away. There were several very well-done costumes of various anime characters, television and movie characters and steampunk. The steampunk costumes are my favorite, and they’re the sexiest by far. The corsets, ruffled skirts, bloomers, stockings and garter belts, ankle boots with skinny heels – I don’t know why Victorian dress hasn’t stayed popular.

While roaming around the vendor area we spotted some beautiful corsets in a variety of colors and designs. One of the designers spoke to us at length, then asked if I’d like to try one on. I could do that? I had no idea. He measured my waist then slipped a red embroidered corset over my head, fitting it snug against my shirt. I turned around and he began to pull the stays tight, showing my husband the order to pull them. One issue I’d assumed about a corset, especially wearing one without anything underneath, was that I would fall out of the top. He pulled this thing so tight, nothing was going to fall out. It wasn’t too difficult to breath, and I couldn’t believe how I looked when he was done. My husband snapped a photo for me as I stood in front of a full-length mirror.

I had an amazing hourglass shape and I felt snug and secure. Even wearing my t-shirt and jeans, I felt sexy and beautiful in the corset. It definitely went on the to-buy list and we snagged designer’s business card.

I scouted out a few places online for some steampunk pieces, bookmarked them, then carried over the sexy / beautiful feeling from the convention as I went shopping last weekend, picking up some skirts, some tops, and even a sleeveless dress from the sale rack that said size 12 but fit me anyway. I’m wearing it out to dinner in a couple of weeks. Who cares if it’s fall? I’ll put on a sweater if I have to, but I’m wearing that dress.

Tiffany Rose is a romantic at heart, which is why romance is a very
strong element in her writing, especially her erotic writing, because
love makes great sex even better. Because she believes so strongly in
a romantic relationship, she’s made a public promise to her readers.
She currently lives in Alabama with her family. Originally from
Georgia, she has also lived in Germany, North Carolina and Colorado.
In addition to writing, she enjoys reading from a variety of genres,
watching True Blood and Dexter with her husband, and going on long
walks with their dog.

Find Tiffany on Facebook or on her blog at Tiffany’s current releases, Fun with Buster and Freya’s Journey, are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, and All Romance Ebooks. Her new book, Dial-A-Goddess: Book 1, is coming November 2012.

About Dial-A-Goddess:
When Jessica’s business, a phone sex network, is hacked, she must ask Ryan, her ex-lover, for help before she loses everything.

Keira here!

Thanks for being here, Tiffany. That corset sounds great. I’d love one in purple.

Sweet, sexy dreams!

Today I have Cinsearae S on the blog talking about characters.

Here’s Cinsearae S!

When it comes to writing and worldcrafting, creating the characters is my favorite part. Real people often unknowingly become my victims–ahem—subjects, by having some aspect of themselves become a part of one of my characters. And the more I surround myself with people I know or come into contact with random ones—especially the random ones– the easier it becomes to breathe life into mine. (muah-ha-ha-haaaa!) What better way to compose a person for your book than by taking pieces from real ones? It’s like playing Dr. Frankenstein…in a more harmless (and less gory) way. And the best and easiest ways to experience random people en masse is to attend an event or place that will draw them all together. Carnivals/amusement parks. Car shows. State parks. Restaurants. Concerts. Doing it this way might be a bit of a sensory overload, but I’ll guarantee there will be a few distinct people that will stick out in your mind!

Gathering physical features is the easiest part, of course, but to get to the meat-and-potatoes of your character, you just have to pay a bit more attention than you normally would to the real ones. Don’t make yourself look like a stalker or a perv, but just play the role of the ‘casual observer’ (…and one of the most common things I casually observe much too often (unfortunately!) is people digging waaay up their noses in their cars.).  But anyway…does the person have some sort of unusual idiosyncrasies? Some sort of funny gesture that they do subconsciously? Does the tone of their voice sound annoying, soothing, whiny, arrogant? Do they have a swagger to their step, or have a walk that seems to show a lack of self-confidence? Do they draw attention to themselves by giving off a really irritating laugh that makes you want to crack them upside their head with a brick? (Well, maybe not that bad, but you know what I mean.) And jot your notes down. Don’t try to fool yourself by saying “I’ll remember that later”—use that notepad. You’ll thank yourself later. A good writer always keeps the good old standard pen and notebook in their purse or pocket. Electronic toys may be peachy-keen and all that stuff, but heaven forbid if the battery dies. Most of all, have fun with creating your characters! Nobody will know the real truth behind your creations but you…*cue in lightning, thunder, and maniacal, mad scientist laugh*. Good luck!

Me again!

Thanks for being here, Cinsearae S. Check out her website at It’s been a while since I went people watching. I think it’s time for an outing.

Sweet, sexy dreams.

Real life events in stories?

Today I’ve got Amber on the blog talking about what all writers get asked at some point in their lives.

Take it away, Amber!

I’m often asked if I use any real life events in my writing. The answer: sometimes.

I’ve been writing for almost twenty years and of course something from life has to creep into my writing. Back when I started writing everything from my life or the lives of family and friends went into stories. I wrote for Modern Romance and True Confessions, they wanted real life. Now don’t get me wrong I know not everything is “real”. After ten years of writing for them, I’d ran out of true stories and began making them up.

Once I wrote a story about a woman who was in love with a drug addict. She wanted out of the relationship, but he was so controlling he’d rather kill her than let her leave. He handcuffed her to a radiator and started a chair on fire. My editors loved this story. Sadly, it was a true story that happened to a very good friend of mine. With her permission I wrote and published the story.

Not all true events will pass. Years ago I read a “too crazy to be true” article about a woman who grew tired of her husband’s nagging and shot him. The bullet lodged in his false teeth and he lived. I wrote a short story about it and my editor said, “This isn’t true. No one will believe this.” LOL Really?

When I published my first erotica book, Unwrapped (formerly Mistletoe Studs), I made the mistake of giving my heroine’s best friend the same name as a good friend. It really wasn’t supposed to stay Lisa. It was more of a place holder, but somehow I went through edits and forgot to change it. What a mistake that was.

After Lisa read the story she whined and asked why her character didn’t get to have sex.

Hmmm, it wasn’t about her!

This taught me a valuable lesson – leave out friends names and stop using real life events. Besides, when you escape into a book you want a fantasy, right?

About Amber:

From a very young age, Amber began making up stories – the only child syndrome. She grew up reading sick and twisted murder mysteries. Romance was for little kids and their fairy tales. One day her grandmother died and she inherited a boat load of romances and she found a new genre to love. Then she discovered erotic romance and found her calling.

When not creating sexy, seductive stories Amber can be found at the ocean or floating around in her pool, with music blasting in the background. Her love of music inspires many of her stories.

Keira here!

How about it people? Would you want to be in someone’s book? When I was looking for character names for an erotica short story I posted a request on Facebook and people volunteered to be in the story. 🙂

Sweet, sexy dreams!

The Myth of Multiples

Today I’ve got Kenra Daniels on the blog today with a great post about multiple orgasms!

Take it away Kenra!

One of the big pet peeves that both readers and writers seem to have with romance novels is lack of realism in matters pertaining to orgasms. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve read a comment someone left regarding the implausibility of multiple orgasms for both Hero and Heroine, well… You know the rest of the line.

So, that got me thinking… Yes, thank you, I’m well aware of the hazards associated with that activity! It regularly gets me into all sorts of messes.

Are multiple orgasms impossible? For just males? Or for both males and females? (See that? I’m pretending I don’t already know the answer :D)

Many people, of both sexes, seem to regard Real Life multiple orgasms as a myth, for either sex. Others will concede that some women are capable of more than one orgasm during a single session of sexual activity. Most seem convinced that a man is incapable of more than one during a single session, without a sufficient recovery period between, and that men are unable to maintain full erection immediately after an orgasm. {My source of all this information is multiple discussions, both online and in person, with members of both sexes. Yup, romance authors get by with asking questions and bringing up topics that would earn other people a cold shoulder, minimum. We’re just lucky like that.}

I suppose I’m lucky that I knew very little about sex before I became sexually active. Oh, I knew the basics, and what went where, thanks to my 9th grade health class, but that’s about it. Being raised in a home where ‘sex’, ‘pregnant’, and the words – slang or proper – for genitals, were forbidden tends to have that effect. Hell, we couldn’t even name various bodily functions. So I had no preconceived notions of things like a limit on the number of orgasms a person could have during a single sexual experience. Since I didn’t know I could only have one, I had more.

Maybe that’s why so many people think only one is possible? Just like so many other facts about sex – that’s what they’ve always heard, so it must be true, right?

So, the thing with guys is, they actually can have multiple orgasms. They just can’t ejaculate again without a recovery period, the length of which varies for each man. It takes practice, but guys can ‘train’ their bodies to orgasm without ejaculating. For more info, check out this article on The Frisky, or just Google “dry orgasm”. From experience, you really want your guy to learn this one. I promise, it’s well worth your while. On a side note, dry orgasm can be a result of disease.

Not long ago, I read an article that said women can only orgasm from clitoral stimulation, and that wasn’t the first time I’d seen that. As someone who’s never had difficulty achieving vaginal orgasm, I knew that one was bullshit, 😀 But it does bring up another common complaint about the realism of sex in romance novels. The heroines in older novels, and some contemporary ones, were often depicted having vaginal orgasm, which some readers considered impossible. The truth is, women can not only have multiple orgasms, but we can have different types of orgasms, and different kinds of multiple orgasms! This post on Centerfold Strip brings it all together.

So the next time you hear someone scoff about that sex scene with multiple orgasms for both the hero and the heroine, just smile and say something like, “You’re kidding, right? Only one? How sad.”

Finally, the doors opened, and the line started to move. The doorman checked IDs, turning away one young couple with fakes. By the time Amy made it to the front of the line, the heavily muscled man had relaxed a little, and started flirting with some of the women in the line. When Amy’s turn came, he gave her a nod while his blue gaze flicked up and down, taking in her appearance.
His smile broadened when his gaze arrived at her generous breasts. “That’s an awfully nice dress for a dump like this, Sweetheart.” His voice, rumbly and intimate, sent a charge directly to Amy’s pussy.
She licked her lips before answering, causing heat to flare in his eyes. “It’s my favorite, so I decided what the hell.”
“If you get tired of the jerks inside, come on back out and keep me company a while. I know how to treat a lady.” His voice promised a good time.
Feeling especially daring, Amy made of point of letting her skirt brush against his pant leg as she walked past. “I’ll just bet you do.” With a long look over her shoulder, she headed on through the heavy steel door.
God! Had she really done that? Embarrassment heated her cheeks. Never in her life had she behaved that way! Every male without sight would read her actions as coming from a bitch in heat. Hopefully those young jerks hadn’t paid attention. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to resist paying her a visit.

Ivy Bateman and why she’s attracted to a nice set of fangs.

I’ve got Ivy Bateman on the blog today! Loved her post about vampires. I think you’ll like it too.

Here’s Ivy!

Hello everyone!

Recently, my second release with Breathless Press was thrust upon the cyber world. It’s a paranormal erotic eBook called The Fifth Story. In the book, Bryn, my heroine, is lured into the world of her own stories by Darkness. He gives her a mission, or rather, forces her to take on a mission, and one of the worlds she has to enter is that of the deliciously evil Darius. He’s a vampire—or more precisely a space vampire. It may sound crazy, but I swear, in the context of the story, it works.

The other day, when I was trying to come up with a topic for this guest post, my husband suggested writing about vampires and their allure and that I could talk about why I am attracted to them. It sounded like a good idea at the time, but then as now, I’m honestly not sure why I find them so sexy. I HATE the sight of blood. When I watch CSI, the pillow sees the show more than I do. And Vampires, they’re all about the blood. They hunt it, they drink it, and they really like to watch it flow down your body. However, maybe that’s part of their allure, how much they love what they do. It’s not a hobby, it’s a need and they are really passionate about blood collection. In a world so full of chaos and sadness, it’s a welcome thing to find yourself with a job you enjoy.

Ok, so vampires are passionate, that is attractive and I’m a sucker for some neck action so that probably is also part of the allure. The thought of hot, sharp fangs being slowly dragged my neck…yip, that’s a pleasant thought… Plus, in most stories, the vampires are usually very attractive: muscled bodies, sculpted features, eyes that can see through time and most often, very good in bed. This all helps to add to their attraction.

Now my husband believes that the reason many people find vampires incredibly attractive is their aura of mystery. “The ladies, they love a mysterious man.” he says. And I have to agree with him. As much as I say that I prefer guys to just be open and themselves from the get go, the dark, brooding loner, the “oh wow—I’d really like to peel back to layers on that guy” kind of guy is usually the type I’ve most been attracted to in my life up to and INCLUDING my husband. A mysterious guy is a challenge, a mysterious guy opens up to very few people and the thought of being that one person who could crack that shell can be very a lot of fun and fuel the fire.

So, to wrap it up, why do I like vampires? They’re passionate, they’re hot and they’re mysterious. Darius, my evil space vampire, now that I think of it, IS all of these things and I didn’t even do it on purpose. I guess I knew how I felt about vampires and what attracts me to them all along.

Thanks very much to Keira for having me on today!

Blurb for The Fifth Story By Ivy Bateman

Every day we encounter doors. Some of these doors are open to us and some of them are closed, but when we pass through any door, a different truth or mystery lies beyond the threshold.

The night Bryn is pulled into a world of her own stories by a shadowy being, her reality is changed forever. Souls and danger, hauntingly beautiful witches, sexy and dangerous vampires, a soldier with a dying wish; she knows that each door leads to a story and to outcomes she can’t control, but in order to return home, Bryn must complete a set of tasks for the enigmatic and strangely sensual Darkness.

With four stories to enter, four items to retrieve, Bryn takes part in plot points so out of character that she almost loses herself in the tales she’s written. More than once she questions her sanity and curses herself for creating such perilous realities, but she always remains focused on her goal; the creation of the fifth story.

Me again!

Thanks so much for being here with my today, Ivy! Great post. I have a fascination with vampires and I have no idea why they’re sexy to me. They just are. 🙂
