Welcome to my blog!

Join Kayelle Allen as she interviews her character, Koo Ayakura, from the new book Keeper of My Pleasure. This BDSM romance from Ellora’s Cave features a female Domme who is older than her hero.

About the Book

komp200x329Keeper of My Pleasure features a recent college graduate, Koo Ayakura, who hires Rai Whethen as his attorney after thieves total his car and then dare to sue him. She wins, and takes him out to celebrate. Dinner leads to the hottest sex in his life, and a long-term relationship as her submissive. He adores the way she makes him feel, and the way she makes him burn. He longs to show her he has more to offer. He has a heart, and it’s hers, if only she’ll let him give it. A successful attorney in her late thirties, Rai has a penchant for handsome young men with long hair. Koo, her newest client, becomes more than her usual boy toy. He likes being tied up and whipped, and he yields the way she’d always dreamed. But he has a future ahead of him, and she’s a jaded lawyer. He wants sex, not love. Right? He wouldn’t stay with her forever. She trusts him to submit. To keep Koo, Rai is going to have trust her heart.

Interview with Koo

Kayelle:          Koo, I know you met Rai because you hired her as an attorney. What was your first impression upon meeting her?

Koo:                Her secretary ushered my father and me into her office, and when Rai shook my hand, she looked me right in the eye and held my gaze for a long minute. I about swallowed my tongue. My first impression wasn’t how beautiful she was — although it was certainly my second. My first was “Wow! This woman is powerful.”

Kayelle:          In what way?

Koo:                She’s intense. She looks at you with this steely-eyed gaze, as if she’s looking right down into your soul. I would not want to be the bad guy sitting across from her at the table. There’s something about her that lets you know if you lie — she’s going to know it before you even finish speaking.

Kayelle:          You said your second impression was that she was beautiful. Tell us about that.

Koo:                In that first meeting, I had a hard time paying attention to what she was saying. She asked me a few questions and had to repeat them because I kept thinking “OMG look at this gorgeous woman. And she’s talking to me!” *laughs* I’m sure she thought I was a space drift or that I was on something. I remember thinking that I hoped my father was paying attention so I could ask him what the hell happened later.

Kayelle:          Thieves had stolen your car that you and your father rebuilt. Tell us about the car.

Koo:                It’s a 1963 Jaguar XKE in cherry red, and it’s the most beautiful car in the world. Not just to me. This car is in multiple lists of the one hundred most beautiful cars of all time. I’d saved all through high school to buy a car, working two jobs, and finally bought it when I graduated. Of course, when I got it, it was in deplorable condition. My dad helped me strip it down to the bare bones and rebuild it from the ground up. It took us almost two years. The day it was stolen, I had driven it to Piedmont Park to drop off some books for a friend, and I turned it off, hopped out, ran over to the part where my friend was standing, and handed him the books. He said, “Isn’t that your car?” and I turned just in time to see two guys driving off in it. It happened fast.

Kayelle:          The car was retrieved, right?

Koo:                I called the cops immediately, and I had a tracking device on it, so it was easy to find. But those jokers tried eluding the cops, and took a turn too fast. They crashed the car, and were injured. I could not believe it when they sued me, saying if I hadn’t left the keys in the ignition they wouldn’t have been tempted to steal it. That’s when I started asking around for a lawyer.

Kayelle:          And met Rai.

Koo:                Exactly. *leans back* I hated seeing my hot red beauty get torn up like that, but thankfully, something good came out of it.

Kayelle:          So what’s next for you and Rai?

Koo:                *smiles* I don’t know. But I’m sure you’ll think of something.

Space opera – Yep, It’s Still Romance

Welcome to my blog! Today I have Nina Pierce talking about space operas!

Here’s Nina!

I’m a voracious reader. Okay, so that isn’t so much a confession as a statement of fact. But the truth that my reading tastes lean toward all things romantic—definitely is.

For a very long time I didn’t realize that everyone wasn’t falling all over themselves to find stories where the protagonists were not only tracking down the serial killer, but also working to deny their attraction for one another. I mean it’s not like I was picking up Harlequin books, which is synonymous with romance, I was enjoying the paranormal worlds of Jessica Andersen and JR Ward or the futuristic worlds of Anne McCaffrey or the historical settings of Amanda Quick.

Yep, some would say these are romances disguising themselves as another genre. I say poppycock. (I can use that word here, right? *vbg*) Romance comes in all flavors, including science fiction. And they’ve even got a cool term for it … space opera!

Space Opera – Subgenre of science fiction that emphasizes the romantic adventure, set mainly or entirely in outer space.  (Wikipedia)

For a science fiction junky like me who cut her teeth on television programs like Star Trek and Stargate and movies like Logan’s Run and Total Recall, this new subgenre is feeding my inner geek Goddess as well. I love the idea of new worlds where humans are fighting for their own corner of the universe and where true love can still be found.

In my newest release, A TOUCH OF LILLY ( the heroine is a Chicago detective turned bounty hunter, seeking revenge in deep space. I loved being able to let my muse loose to create a galaxy very different from our own, complete with aliens, futuristic weapons and of course a sexy hero. Yeah, there’s a sci fi feeling to the story, but at its core, this novel is very much a sexy (read that … adult) romance.

What about you? Are you a romance junky? Have you ever read a space opera before? What did you think (or why are you avoiding them)?

Ex-Chicago detective LILLY D’ANGELO has a secret she doesn’t share with anyone. A master of the one night stand, she’s given up ever finding a soul mate and thrown herself head first into her career. That is, until she captures the wrong alien. Kidnapped and sold into the sex slave trade, she’s shipped into deep space. Barely escaping with her life, Lilly now travels the galaxy working as a bounty hunter using her secret talents to bring down criminals and seeking revenge on the one male who ruined her life.

Agent DALLAS SAWYER works for deep space’s version of the FBI. After a disastrous mission that left several of his team members murdered, a president executed, and Dallas near death, he’s determined to take down the assassin targeting government officials. When a sexy human female gets between him and his goal, Dallas and his alien partner find themselves on the receiving end of a passionate night they won’t soon forget and a proposition that may very well blow up in their faces.

Because in deep space … true love can happen with just a touch.

A_Touch_of_Lilly_Cover_for_KindleDallas swigged the last of his Regent’s ale. Anyone who’d been watching would believe the human’s alcohol consumption would have him waxing the floor with his face. The fact he staggered away from the bar barely caused a ripple of interest. But when he bumped into the Braugtot alien disguised as a human female on the dance floor and made a rather lewd body motion—several aliens took notice.

“Baby! How about you dump this loser Ka’al and come home with me?” The words slurred from Dallas’ mouth as he wrapped himself around the Braugtot’s body. From the smell he even wondered if it was really female. But whatever the sex, the jealous Ka’al reacted just the way he’d hoped.

Rrracht narctch, rraollk. She’s with me, asshole. Beefy hands grabbed his shirt and flung him through the air. Dallas landed unceremoniously on the nearest table, breaking up a quiet conversation between two Xericks.

Sometimes he hated this part of the job. Dallas came up swinging. A left hook to one head and a right uppercut to the second and the male Xerick went down, taking out several unsuspecting Drikspa dancers. Dallas ducked as a chair flew.

Alcohol, male hormones and boredom created the diversion they’d hoped for. The fight spread like a virus through the tavern. Dallas avoided a tussle between two Ka’als, took down another Ickbata and made his way toward his partner, hoping Thaegan had managed to stop Lilly before she got through the door with their man. A very unladylike scream from the front of the bar confirmed that the alien had things under control in that area.

Dallas pushed his way to the door, watching Grebetz slip out onto the street, a Xerick close at his heels. “Gamma Team. Phase two. Znedu loose. Track him and report.” It was all he got out before meeting up with Thaegan and Lilly.

“Roger that,” echoed in his ear.

“I’ll let you up if you stop fighting me.” Thaegan had the woman face down on the floor, her arms behind her back. The Ka’al was more than twice her size, still Lilly kicked and bucked, trying to work herself free. As the fight around them escalated, Lilly’s body stilled, but not her mouth. Dallas didn’t know many dialects, but it was clear Lilly knew the word asshole in all thirty-two common languages of the Nebulae Galaxy and several more he’d never even heard of. He had no doubt the words she strung with it would have gotten him several weeks detention from the nuns at St. Christopher’s Academy back home.

He bent low and met her eyes. “Lilly, we have no intention of hurting you.”

The fear in her eyes softened to confusion and immediately hardened to anger.

Well, didn’t this just suck? Lilly had no idea how’d she’d gone from mentally counting her reward to a face plant on the sticky floor of the tavern. No amount of maneuvering had budged the three-hundred-pound Ka’al holding her down. And now the man who would star in her nightly fantasies for the next month stared at her with an amused expression.

Though Lilly knew fighting wasn’t going to get her anywhere, she screamed her frustration and kicked out, trying to dislodge the monster holding her down. She only managed to slam her foot into a table leg, which just pissed her off all the more. Dallas didn’t do a very good job of hiding his amusement.

“If you know the asshole doing chiropractic on my spine, could you kindly ask him to let me up?” she asked, her tone dripping with sweetness.

Dallas nodded and the Ka’al stood, hauling Lilly to her feet in one effortless move. The alien’s mahogany skin glistened with the coppery sheen of a man under stress. His muscular chest, barely covered by the deeply V’d tank top, heaved. Holding her down had taken no effort, but the energy she’d tried to use on the Znedu was still high and the Ka’al was paying the price of touching her.

Lilly’s body pulsed and throbbed. Her nipples were oversensitive and her sex tingled. There was no way in hell these two guys weren’t also feeling the effects of the current snapping in the air. If the residual energy she’d pulsed through the Znedu hadn’t done it, then her anger at being stopped at the door would be enough to have these males dropping to their knees. If only the Ka’al would let go of one of her hands, she might be able to do a little more work up close and personal.

Lilly leaned toward Dallas and yelled over the confusion, “I didn’t need saving this time either, but thank you again.”

Magda Alexander talks about Storm Damages

Welcome to the blog! Today I have Magda Alexander talking about her book Storm Damages.

Here’s Magda!

First of all, I want to thank Keira for inviting me to her blog. It’s my very first one after publishing my debut novel, STORM DAMAGES, a sizzling contemporary romance.  Here’s the blurb:

Storm-DamagesBook1_webPromising law student Elizabeth Watson struggled throughout her entire life to claw out of her dirt poor background. And now the brass ring is within her grasp—an associate position at the law firm where she works. As long as she keeps up her grades, makes law review, and stays out of trouble. But trouble is just what walks in the door one scorching hot summer day.

When Gabriel Storm walks into Elizabeth’s life she wants nothing to do with him. After all, he’s on the opposing side of a business deal her law firm represents.  If she’s seen with him, she can kiss her career goodbye. But after one sizzling encounter in his limo, she can’t stay away from the billionaire who put the “B” in bad boy, and soon she’s embroiled in an affair hot enough to incinerate her doubts. She should walk away, hell, she should run away, but she can’t. Because all she cares about is his kiss, his touch, and the fires he lights when she’s in his arms.

An urgent heat flares in Gabriel Storm’s eyes. “Are you attached, Elizabeth?” he asks in a gravelly voice, barely loud enough for me to hear.

My legs turn to rubber. My breath hitches. “Attached?”

His thumb scrapes the inside of my wrist, setting off a wild pulse within. “Do you have a partner, a significant other, a boyfriend?”

“No.” I blurt out before I can think about the appropriateness of his question. Or my response.

“Good.” The hold on my wrist relaxes. It’s only then I realize how tense he’d been. As if my answer mattered to him. “Are you free tonight?”

What the—? Yeah, we shared a moment in the elevator and when I entered the conference room. But he’s on the opposing side of a half billion dollar deal. I can’t go out with him.

Not wishing to appear rude, though, I sidestep the question. “Chances are I’ll be working late.”

“Surely Carrey won’t keep you. He’ll want you to be fresh tomorrow morning for the negotiations. Meet me for drinks at my hotel. I’m staying at The Four Seasons. Around seven?”

I try to say something. But stunned by the turn of events, I can’t.

He palms a card from his jacket. “My mobile number. Call me when you leave the office so I know when to expect you.” He strokes the card against my cheek.

His touch sets off something within, a trembling I can’t control.

As he slips the card into my hand, his eyes turn the color of a savage storm. “You’re very responsive, Elizabeth. I like that.” And with that, he strolls away, all liquid movement and languid grace.

What the hell just happened? I didn’t say yes. You didn’t say no. Elizabeth. His panty-melting voice whispers inside my head.

About Magda Alexander:

Magda loves piña coladas and walks in the rain. Okay, enough of that. Rewind.

Magda loves reading steamy romances which she’s been doing since she was ten. Ummm, that’s not quite true. Steamy romances did not exist when she was ten, and if they had, she’s pretty sure her mother would not have allowed her to read them. She did read the hand-holding, longing- glances kind, along with her catechism, which got her into trouble more than once. Let’s just say, Mother Superior was not amused.

As soon as sexy romances came into existence, she’s been lapping them up. So when it came time to write one, guess what she wrote. A no-brainer, right?

Magda, a lifelong learner, attended the University of Maryland where she majored in Business Administration (because her family had to eat) and minored in English (because she needed to dream). She’s lived in Maryland most of her life and now resides close to the Catoctin Mountains in a city whose history dates back to colonial times.

Not Your Average Holiday Party

Today I’ve got Naomi Bellina on the blog talking about holiday parties!

Here’s Naomi!

With the holidays just around the corner, many people are thinking about parties. Exciting, glamorous, elegant, romantic …or maybe, not so much. Some holiday parties are dull, miserable affairs, and that’s a shame. They could be so much fun.

The problem is, hosts and hostesses have certain ideas of what are acceptable activities at an adult event, and that’s what they go with. Party planners need to step outside the box, and come up with more creative ideas to entertain their guests.

In my latest book, Out of the Ordinary, a half mad, often inebriated king has his very own party planet, Porrima. I got to thinking, what would I do if I had a place with unlimited funds to throw a bash? I would have big fun, that’s for sure. No boring music, no tedious entertainment, and only the most delicious food would be served. As my little mind wandered, alone and unsupervised, here are some of the ideas I came up with.

Bubbles for party favors. You know, the kind you used to have when you were a kid. You dunked the wand in the bottle, then waved it around to make multi-colored bubbles. Instead of using sticky soap, mine will be made out of the drink of your choice, and produce sparkly, rainbow colored bubbles. The liquid won’t be tacky, and when you’re done playing, you can drink what’s left.

Personal chefs. Many people I talk to are on some sort of diet, so my chefs will prepare whatever you want, and it will be delicious. You don’t eat meat? No problem, plenty of vegetarian dishes. No gluten? They can work with that too. Trying to cut out carbs? They have just the thing. You tell them what you want, they fix it.

Spa room. If you’ve ever seen the Express Spas at select airports, this is what I’ll have at my party. They’re like mini spas where you can get a short or full massage, manicure, pedicure and facial treatments. I’ll have two or three rooms set up, and lots of attendants.  My hero and heroine get to spend a little bit of time in a spa on Porrima, and I had a lot of fun creating that atmosphere.

Shoe carousel party favors. Who doesn’t love to shop for shoes, when it’s as easy as spinning a huge platform, decked out with every imaginable style? Whether you love flip-flops, boots, sneakers, pumps, or even fuzzy slippers, you’ll find something that makes you smile. Your size will be ordered and shipped to you, and every style will come in wide, narrow, whatever you need.

Finger painting. I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember the last time I dipped my fingers in some paint and swirled it around. My party will have a whole wall designated for this, along with a huge sheet of paper. Everyone can make a design, then tear it off to take home. I’ll even have frames available, if desired. For those who really get into this event and want a little after-party romance, tubes of body paint will be on hand to take home, to continue the fun with a partner.

What about you? Do you have something outrageous you’d like to see at a party? I’d love to hear about it.

Thank you for having me as your guest, Keira Kohl, and happy holidays to everyone!
